Overview
Our customer is one of Denmark’s largest IT and software companies, delivering complex enterprise solutions to the public and private sectors and operating across major Nordic cities. They faced challenges in their existing SAP environment, including delayed system updates, unstructured documentation and unestablished change management resulting in high operational costs and inefficient operations.
We conducted a comprehensive SAP landscape assessment and strategic roadmap analysis, helping the client unlock significant operational and financial gains.
The customer’s SAP environment had become complex, operationally inefficient with limited agility, visibility and cost efficiency. The outdated features no longer aligned with modern SAP standards and customer requirements.
Legacy Processes and Limited Innovation – The existed SAP environment was outdated with delayed system updates, enhancements and modernisation initiatives. This legacy system obstructed the adoption of new functionalities, limited process adoption and reduced the organisation’s ability to leverage SAP’s evolving digital capabilities.
High Operational Costs – The lack of continuous optimisations led to inefficiencies within core SAP modules such as ECC and HCM. This caused manual interventions, redundant processes and non-standard customisations increasing system complexity and operational overhead.
Redundant documentation and poor visibility – The repository contained nearly 30,000 unstructured, outdated, and duplicate documents, making it difficult for IT teams to trace dependencies, manage changes, or validate compliance requirements, raising risks during configuration and deployment.
Limited Process Ownership and Integration clarity – Absence of proper documentation and ownership mapping made it difficult to identify responsibilities and dependencies. This led to longer resolution cycles and frequent miscommunication between teams.
Weak governance and change management – The organisation had a weak governance structure to oversee system updates, version control and alignment with SAP best practices. Unestablished Change request management caused inconsistent role definition, overlapping authorisation and compliance gaps.
End to end system review – Our team conducted a comprehensive evaluation of various SAP environments like ECC, BW, PO, HCM, and Solman environments to identify performance, process and structural gaps.
Collaborative Workshops – Our team organised multiple meetings, discovery and validation sessions with business and IT stakeholders to ensure alignment on system objectives and improvement areas.
Extensive documentation Analysis – Our team conducted a deep-dive review of 30,000 documents in the (SolDoc) repository to identify and eliminate redundant, obsolete and inconsistent docs improving the overall quality and reliability of the documentation.
Optimisation blueprints – Our team delivered a comprehensive recommendation report, serving as a roadmap covering simplifying various processes. It covered recommendations for streamlining workflows, reducing custom development, improving data integrity and leveraging SAP-native functionalities.
Best Practice Alignment – The recommendations report prepared by the team were mapped to SAP’s industry-standard framework to reinforce governance, strengthen compliance, and improve audit readiness.
