Challenges

The customer wanted to build a modern platform for authors and researchers. They envisioned to build a centralised UI platform to enable easy exchange of manuscripts, track royalties and manage profiles in a self – service environment. The existing platform was a legacy platform with following challenges:

Poor User Experience: Legacy platform was built on Svelte-based UI, which was slow, non-intuitive, difficult to scale and maintain.

Lack of Real-Time Data: In legacy platform, royalty calculations took weeks, vendors couldn’t track invoices in real time, leading to repeated queries and dissatisfaction.

Salesforce Integration Complexity: Real time data synchronisation was essential for operations like royalty calculations but was difficult to achieve due to inconsistent data standards across systems, leading to complications in integration of Salesforce and SAP.

Performance Issues: Legacy app made 50+ API calls per page load, causing 8–10 sec delays. This led to negatively impacting the productivity, especially for users who needed to act on multiple data points quickly.

Reusable Component Design Constraints: The team had to re-architect the entire UI in Salesforce’s Lightening Web Component (LWC), while ensuring components were flexible (for example dynamic forms that adapt based on user role or input) and compliant with Salesforce’s Shadow DOM.

Solution

We partnered with the customer to building a modern, scalable and user-centric platform, leveraging Salesforce LWC. Here is the detailed overview of how we tackled the challenges and delivered a future-ready solution.

Built two community portals: We developed two salesforce community platforms

– MyAccount Portal -For Vendors & Distributors

– Books Author Portal – For Authors & Researchers

Both the platforms were designed to be mobile friendly and role based; they provided relevant information the users.

Enabled Real-Time Data Access: new portals allowed vendors and authors to view their data instantly—whether it was payments, royalties, or profiles—making their experience smoother and faster.

Streamlined Processes with Automation

We simplified key processes like royalty calculations and invoice tracking by automating them in the background. This reduced delays and manual effort, saving time for both users and administrators.

Improved Design & Ease of Use

The entire interface was refreshed with a modern look and feel. We ensured consistency across the platform, making it easy to use, easy to manage, and simple to update in the future.

We successfully migrated from the legacy platform to Salesforce which offered various automated tools and APIs to enhance system performance, reliability and operational efficiency.

Modernised Front-end Architecture: We altered the Svelte-based UI with Salesforce Lightning Web Components LWC, which significantly improved the maintainability and scalability of the front end.

Streamlined Codebase through Reusability: LWC offered 30+ reusable LWC components which enabled eliminating redundancy, reduced technical debt and ensured consistency across the platform.

Strengthened Security Posture: A robust security model was implemented to safeguard sensitive data and SSO (single sign-on integration) was implemented to provide secure and seamless user authentication across systems.

Automation of Complex Business Processes: Complex backend processes were automated, which helped in automating tasks, minimized errors and improved processing speed.
