22nd June 2020 – Slough Borough Council is set to transform its housing services by investing in NPS Housing from Northgate Public Services. The cloud-based housing management solution will replace multiple outdated systems with one system, providing a single view of customers and offering tenants the ability to do more for themselves online.
The covid-19 outbreak threatened to slow the councils plans to replace its housing system but with NPS capability to manage the entire implementation without setting foot on the council’s premises, the major IT overhaul will go ahead as intended.
The new system which is scheduled to go live in the first quarter of 2021, will give housing staff access to real-time information on their tenants whether they are working from home or in the office, enabling them to easily search and update information wherever they are working.
Using a smart phone, PC or tablet, residents will be able to carry out several actions online, including applying for housing, requesting property repairs or paying rent.
Colin Moone, service lead, housing at Slough Borough Council explains: “We were working with really antiquated systems so we weren’t able to work as efficiently as we would like. Moving to NPS Housing will revolutionalise the way we do things by integrating everything into one system. It will give our tenants more options to manage their own lives and it will free our team to be able to spend more time supporting residents. The fact that the outbreak hasn’t impacted the project timeline is amazing.”
Roger Birkinshaw, housing director at Northgate Public Services, said: “NPS housing will play a key role in providing staff at the council with the information they need and will improve the experiences of residents. It is a first for us to begin an implementation entirely remotely, and I am proud that we have the people and the technology and expertise to make this happen.”
