NEC Care delivers pilot diabetic eye screening clinic at the home of The Bantams
NEC Care West Riding & Craven recently held a pilot diabetic eye screening clinic, the first of its kind, within the grounds of Bradford City AFC
The pilot diabetic eye screening event was an opportunity for NEC Care and Bradford City AFC to see if such an event could be run on a regular basis, enabling more patients to be screened, in an easily accessible location.
John Fox, Programme Manager said “The pilot was very successful; we screened a total of 33 patients which gave us the opportunity to work out how we could improve and what our total capacity could be for a full scale clinic”.
John continued, “upscaling this to an ongoing event we would be able to see over 100 patients in one day. The venue provides plenty of space to ensure we can keep everyone safe under COVID guidelines and provides easy access”.
Feedback from the patients who attended was also very good. All attendees rated their experience as excellent, and the venue was rated very highly. Patients felt that they had all their questions about the process explained fully and rated the screening team as excellent. All round a very good pilot event.
More clinics have been set up at the venue throughout November and December and from January they will be running a weekly clinic.
