Humberside Fire and Rescue Service go live with a new, hosted Command, Control and Integrated Communication System
Humberside Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS) have started operational use of a new system in their Control Rooms comprising the market-leading Vision 5 and DS3000 solutions from NEC Software Solutions (NECSWS).
The fully integrated, cloud-based system provides staff and call handlers with the latest in Control Room capabilities and the real-time information they need to quickly dispatch fire appliances to incidents based on their proximity and capability, ensuring fast and effective responses to emergencies.
The hosted platform will also enable improved collaboration with other Fire Services that choose to adopt the same technology.
Hosted in NEC data centres the system is accessible from HFRS’s control room locations to provide resilience and further modules to extend the operational capabilities include a live video streaming facility and, in a further rollout, a mobile application for use by officers.
The successful introduction of Vision 5 represents a significant investment in the future of emergency response across our Service. Our Fire Control staff play a critical role in protecting our communities, and it is essential they are supported by modern, reliable and resilient technology.
Vision 5 delivers enhanced capabilities for managing emergency calls, mobilising resources and supporting operational decision-making. The system also provides a strong foundation for future technological developments, ensuring we continue to adapt and meet the changing demands placed upon modern Fire and Rescue Services.

Future developments will focus on strengthening remote geographical support arrangements and creating greater interoperability between control rooms, ensuring Services can provide mutual assistance during periods of exceptional demand.
These arrangements will be particularly important during widespread weather-related incidents, including severe flooding, storms and wildfire events, as well as major emergencies that place increased pressure on emergency service Control Room functions.
